Wynne House is a newly renovated (May 2025) two-bedroom home located in beautiful dark-sky friendly Terlingua Ranch. We are just 35 minutes from the Maverick Junction entrance to Big Bend National Park and the Terlingua Ghost Town. Wynne House is a secluded retreat with spectacular views and amazing night skies that provides a relaxing home base for exploring the Big Bend.

The house features a small kitchen, open dining and living area, a private bathroom, private bedroom, and a sleeping loft. The house is cooled and heated by three mini split units. The kitchen is equipped with propane two-burner stove top, under-counter refrigerator, microwave, and toaster. Pots, pans, and dishes are provided. A coffee maker and filters are provided. There is a small dining table by the kitchen. The main bedroom features a queen bed, ceiling fan, and large windows with mountain views. There is also a queen bed in the sleeping loft. We recommend the loft for kids. Adults are welcome to use it, but the sloping ceiling can make access a little awkward, especially persons with limited mobility. The full bathroom has a shower, sink, flushing toilet, and hot and cold water. All bed linens are provided, as well as towels, a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap.

There is a smart television in the living room. Guests my use their own streaming apps. The high-speed WiFi also supports streaming on your own phone, tablet, or laptop.

Wynne House relies on rain catchment and hauling well water. The water is filtered and treated but is not state certified as potable. Bottled water is provided for drinking, making coffee, cooking, and other consumption. We are in the desert, please conserve water.

Books about the area are provided, as well as an assortment of puzzles.

OUTDOOR SPACE: There is a comfortable seating area under a covered porch and a propane grill. The owner is a rock and fossil collector. Therefore, there is a large selection of rocks and fossils from the area, including some in the living room bookshelf, featuring a14” ammonite fossil.

LOCAL AREA: Three miles to Terlingua Ranch Lodge and "Bad Rabbit" restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days per week. Our guests love the convenience of the restaurant, and one can purchase sodas and beer and sit out on their deck. You might meet some local characters.
Four miles to the trailhead for the Christmas Mountains hike. Climb to the peak of Christmas Mountains for a sensational view of the Chisos mountain. This is an 11-mile hike with a gain in altitude of 1,800. Please check in the Terlingua Ranch Lodge before the hike.
Thirty-three miles to the Maverick Junction entrance to Big Bend National Park.
Thirty-five miles to the historic Terlingua Ghost Town

SAFETY: Fire extinguishers are located in the kitchen and outside on the porch. The home is equipped with fire alarms and CO2 detectors. There is first-aid kit in the bathroom vanity.
